Beginning on Memorial Day through Sept. 30, you can earn up to $2 off per gallon of gas at Kroger’s Fuel Centers — double what the discount was previously.
The deal requires you to have a Kroger Plus card, which is free. All you have to do is sign up online or at a store. Points accumulate throughout each month — one fuel point for every $1 spent up to 2,000 points. Beginning the next month, you can trade in points for savings at the pump — 10 cents per gallon at Shell stations and up to $2 per gallon in savings at Kroger fuel centers. You can buy up to 35 gallons at a time at the discounted rate. If your family has two cars, take them both to the station at the same time. Fill one car first and then put the rest of the 35 gallons into the second car. Just don’t turn off the pump when you switch cars.
To earn even more fuel points, buy gift cards. Most gift cards earn double points. Currently, Kroger is offering quadruple fuel points on most gift cards as part of the Dads and Grads savings event. Every time you fill a prescription, you earn 50 fuel points.
If you buy gas with your Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards Visa, you earn an additional 5 cents off the cost of a gallon over and above the amount you save by redeeming points. New cardholders can save 25 cents a gallon during their first three months as cardholders when they redeem at least 100 fuel points.
Purchases of cigarettes and alcohol don’t count. Read the rest of the rules here.
