Walmart is offering NASCAR racing fans a terrific deal on race tickets for the Sprint Cup Michigan 400, Sunday, June 17, at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, about 70 miles west of Detroit.
The $99 Walmart Family Track Pack includes four race tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and one program. This is about $100 less than it would cost to buy these items separately.
You can buy the package online at www.walmart.com/NASCAR and in stores that have Ticketmaster kiosks.
On race weekend, Walmart stores close to the track are holding NASCAR events that include free driving simulators in the parking lots — kids love them — race cars on display, free hotdogs, and deals on NASCAR T-shirts and racing flags.

If you’re thinking about taking in the race and camping near MIS, I can recommend two fun, family friendly and inexpensive places to stay:
Greenbriar Golf Club and RV Park, 14820 Wellwood Road, Brooklyn. This large and wooded private park features an adjacent golf course, swim pool, a clean bathhouse with laundry, and fun weekend events for the kids. Wampler’s Lake is within walking distance. Make reservations by calling (517) 592-6943. (website Greenbriargolfclub.com appears to be down). One of the best things about this park from a NASCAR perspective is the back-roads access to the track. While it’s not walkable, it is bike-able and either way, this access that will cut your getaway time to a minimum.
Walter J. Hayes State Park, 1220 Wampler’s Lake Road, Onsted. This is an enormous state park right on Wampler’s Lake. It has a designated swimming area and spacious boat launch. You can walk to a couple of restaurants and an ice cream stand right outside the gates. There are daily organized activities for the kids and the fishing is pretty good, so bring poles. The track is about five miles away. For info, call (517)-467-7401. Make park reservations at (800) 447-2757.
